HI KIWI,
Welcome to SBS newsgroup.
Issue description:
==============
I understand that you encountered the warning 262 on your SBS 2003 which is
related to a UPS.
Analyzing and suggestion:
===============
After performing lots of research based on the information you provided, we
can not find any relate information on our resources. To troubleshoot this
issue, we may need to collect more information and narrow it down step by
step. Thanks for your cooperation and patience.
1. Does the issue occur if we temporarily shut down all third party
applications and services?
2. Does the issue occur if you manually shut down the computer?
3. Do you install the software for the UPS device on the SBS server? If so,
we should check if the software is fully compatible with Windows Server
2003. (You need to contact with the APC Powerchute to see if there are any
updates for this software.
4. The problem should be with the communication between the server and the
UPS device. Please understand, the UPS device will have its own code to
communicate with Windows and we do not know the exact command it initiated
to shut down the computer correctly as well as how it will fail. At this
point, except to try the continue suggestions in my first reply, it is best
that you contact your UPS provider for further assistance on it. I think
they will be the more suitable person that can work out this issue more
efficiently.
I think you could also try the following suggestions.
A. Disable third party applications and services;
B. Delete the USB controller and hub from Device Manager and reboot the
server;
C. Contact the USP vendor and change a cable for the UPS device.
