Dear Customer,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you are running different languages on SBS Server and
client workstation, when you running Set Up Computer Wizard, you got error
message saying language does not match. If I have misunderstood your
concern, please let me know.
This is because your clients are using different language from the server.
SBS 2003 holds the service packs for its clients in its own language
version.
Please note that the Client Setup feature will only deploy the service pack
if the language setting of the operating system on the client computer is
the same as the language setting of the operating system on the SBS server.
So you may want to run Set Up Computer Wizard and remove Client Operating
System Service Packs from the applications to install on client computers.
You should manually install the language specific versions of the service
packs on the client computers.
As service pack is required to be installed on these clients, SBS 2003 will
check these and make sure the client has installed these service packs. In
this case, in order to prevent this issue from occurring, as the client is
in Danish version, you can replace the service pack on the server to Danish
version.
The Service packs are located on the server as:
Windows 2000 SP4: \\%sbsserver%\ClientApps\w2ksp4\i386\
- C:\ClientApps\w2ksp4\i386
Windows XP SP1: \\%sbsserver%\ClientApps\wxpsp1\i386\
- C:\ClientApps\wxpsp1\i386
Windows XP SP 2: \\%sbsserver%\ClientApps\wxpsp2\i386\
- C:\ClientApps\wxpsp2\i386
You can download the full pack of Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP1 and
Windows XP SP2, rename these folders, extract the downloaded SPs to these
folders and then check if the clients are able to run properly with the
client setup wizard. Please make sure that you are using the same folder
structure.
To download these SPs, refer to:
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4)
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/download.asp
Windows XP Service Pack 1a
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.as
p
Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx
If you do not want to deploy the service packs and the other applications
to the clients, you can disable the client setup wizard in the logon
script: SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat on the server.
Hope this information helps. If you have further questions or concern,
please feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
