RE: How do I "Allow incoming echo requests."

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Edward,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

>From the description, I understand the issue to be: you received error
message when you access Windows Firewall on SBS. If I have misunderstood
your concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.

AS I know, Windows Firewall is a feature of Windows XP SP2. It is not
included in Windows Server 2003 as well as SBS 2003.

The Windows Firewall in SBS 2003 is disabled by default. We can't enable
Windows Firewall on the SBS server. SBS 2003 uses Routing and Remote Access
and (if installed) ISA 2000/2004 as firewall and to share the Internet
connection. Running the Configure E-Mail and Internet Connection Wizard
(CEICW) from the To Do list or the SBS console will configure your Internet
connection to be shared, and will give you all the functionality of ICS
(and then some), and will configure the firewall properly.
