suddenly everyone is prompted to change password

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

By default, everyone has to change their password every 120 days here.
Suddenly, even though some users were prompted to change their password 2-3
days ago, the system is making them change it again, after only three four
or five days days. I haven't done anything to the server except for updates
yesterday.

What could be the culprit? Users aren't happy :-(
