RE: Polices

Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.

I understand that you noticed the Policies folder is missing on the SBS 2K3
Server. if I have misunderstood your issue, please let me know.

Due to lack of detail information, I need your help to gather following
information for troubleshooting:

1. Please list the exact path of "Policies Directories are all missing from
teh Sysvol and Backup Directory".

2. On the server, run "eventvwr" (without quotation marks), check whether
there is any error. If yes, double click it, click the Copy button and
paste the full content to the Newsgroup.

3. When did the issue occur? did you make any changes or install any
software on the server, recently?

==================

For your suggestions:

1. If you have Anti-Virus application installed, please make sure that the
anti-virus application does not scan the sysvol volume.

2. For the quickest solution, you can restore the Sysvol contents from a
backup tape. Please see KB article 253268 for detail info.

Missing

3. Use Dcgpofix.exe tool to restore security settings in the Default Domain
Controller Policy.

[Note]: Using the Dcgpofix.exe tool to restore security settings in the
Default Domain Controller Policy to the same state will leads to some
potential problem to the SBS server box. And the Dcgpofix tool should be
used in disaster recovery scenarios. Please refer to the following KB
article to get more detail information:

The steps to run Dcgpofix.exe

a. Open a command prompt window.

b. Run "dcgpofix /dc" to restore Domain controller policy only.

I appreciate your time and cooperation. If anything is unclear, please feel
free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Brandy Nee
