Hi Jason,
Thanks for updates.
We are sure that service pack2 should be the best for you, but it seems you
did not installed the SBS SP1 now, so the problem might be caused by some
known issue, we recommend you applied the SBS SP1 and Exchange SP2.
For the OWA, on SBS 2003 no matter what domain you input on the OWA, the
system will use the default one. So I suggest you check the recipient
policy on the Exchange to make sure that it is the same as your local
system. So please make sure that the email domain is set to primary on the
recipient policy.
You can check it on the exchange system managements, on the recipient node,
click the recipient policy to make sure that your email domain is the
primary one.
By default, if you rerun CEICW, the recipient policy will be back to
default.
I really appreciate your effort here, please kindly applied all the updates
now, it is very important to your issue.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Hi Jason,
|
| Welcome to SBS newsgroup.
|
| Issue description:
| =============
|
| I understand that you could not access the OWA via VPN connection or from
a
| local client computer.
|
| Analyzing and suggestion:
| =============
|
| Before we go any further, please kindly check if you have applied the
| hotfix below, ( I assume that you have already applied the Exchange SP1)
|
|
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0FE89C95-E767-428C-
| 8621-6A586C655EE3&displaylang=en
|
| If the problem still exists, please follow the steps below to narrow down
| the issue:
|
| 1. Does the issue occur to all users, including the built-in
Administrator?
| 2. Does OWA work internally? On the SBS server, open IE and go to
| http://localhost/exchange, can you log on to OWA?
| 3. If you try Basic OWA access, does it work?
| 4. On the SBS server, open Server Management, click Users, on the right
| pane, and double-click a problematic user. On the Exchange Features tab,
| under Protocols, is Outlook Web Access enabled?
|
| On the Account tab, click Log On To..., is it set to "The following
| computers"? If so, change to "All computers" and check if the user can
log
| on to OWA.
|
| 5. If you disable Forms Based Authentication, does OWA works internally?
To
| disable Exchange Forms Based Authentication:
|
| A. Open Exchange System Manager.
| B. Expand Server, <server name>, Protocols, HTTP
| C. Right-click Exchange Virtual Server, Properties. Settings tab.
| D. Uncheck Enable Forms Based Authentication. Click OK.
| E. Go to a command prompt, type "iisreset" and press ENTER.
|
| 6. Can the user access his/her mailbox via Outlook?
| 7. Compare the e-mail addresses in the E-mail Addresses tab in the user
| account properties between users that can log in and those that can't.
Any
| difference?
| 8. Create a new user by using the Add User Wizard, does the issue occur?
| 9. In Exchange System Manager, expand Servers\your
| server\Protocols\HTTP\Exchange Virtual Server, right-click Exchange and
| click Properties. What SMTP domain is displayed in Exchange Path?
|
| Note that one of your SMTP addresses for a user MUST match the "Exchange
| Path" of the OWA virtual server he/she is trying to use.
|
|
| 10. Please also check your recipient policy on the Exchange server to see
| if the default domain is set to the domain you want to logon. You can
check
| it on the Exchange system management on the recipient node.
|
| I appreciate your time to cooperate on this issue, please feel free to
post
| back your results. I am glad to be of further assistance.
|
|
|
| Best regards,
|
| Charles Yang (MSFT)
