Hello Chris,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that three of five Windows XP clients cannot send fax through
SBS Shared Fax Device. If I have misunderstood your issue, please let me
know.
Due to lack of detail error information, I need your help to gather
following information for detail research:
1. You mentioned "trying to start a new fax, the wizard does not appear
when the button is clicked. It appears, for a moment, if something does
want to appear but the Fax Console main screen remains as if nothing has
been clicked." I have following questions:
a. I am sorry that I cannot have a clear ideal whether clients can see
"Welcome to the Send Fax Wizard" or not. Please explain clearly.
b. I strongly suggest that you capture a screen shot so we can have a clear
image for your scenario.
c. On the problematic client workstation, please click Start -> All
programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Fax -> Send a fax. Is there
any error message? If yes, please capture a screen shot for it and send to
my mailbox.
My mailbox is: v-branee@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. Can problematic clients receive fax?
3. On the problematic client workstations, run "eventvwr" (without
quotation marks), check whether there is any error. If yes, double click
it, click the Copy button and paste the full content to the Newsgroup.
4. Have you connected any phone line switch to the fax line? What if you
connect the incoming phone line directly to the SBS server?
5. Make sure the Fax service is started in your Windows XP computer. Run
services.msc and find the Fax service and see if it has been started.

Please take your time to perform the steps above and collect the
information for us to troubleshoot your issue. I am looking forward to
hearing from you!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
