Hi Brandy.
Thank you for your time. I was in a rush with this, tried a whole myriad of
different things, but still no joy. I formatted, re-installed and restored
from a backup in the end. Just for some info.
I never requested any password change. That error message just came up by
itself. Shortly before this error message, i lost all use of network
adapters. I did a system restore but still had no joy. Tried to get into the
recovery console. When prompted for the password for the c:\windows
installation, it told me the password that i used was wrong. (which is not
true as i set the password originally and it has never been changed). I
finally used some software called winternals disk commander. Booted a pseudo
copy of windows using this. Replaced the registry hives and all seemed to go
well until i rebooted into windows and it told me that the registry file was
corrupt. Figured that wasn't such a big issue. Booted into DS repair mode.
Deleted the .evt files. Resatarted the event logging service. It recreated
the .evt files. I restarted the computer again, still said the same thing.
Tried this a few more times with slight alterations but nothing. Thats when i
decided enough was enough and just reformatted.
Thanks for your help.
