Is it OK just to add a new domain and make it the primary SMTP in the default recipient policy in Exchange 2003 running on SBS2003

Hello there,
Our company runs SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 and have been happily
trundling along with the a domain name such as "thedomain.co.uk"
because "domain.co.uk" was taken by someone else when we set it up.
Now that "domain.co.uk" has become available we have added the relevant
A, MX and CNAME DNS records to route all the relevant DNS queries in
exactly the same way as for "thedomain.co.uk".
I have added the SMTP address James.Broomfield@xxxxxxxxxxxx to the
"email addresses" tab in the properties of my user object in AD and set
it as the primary SMTP address. I then sent a mail to my gmail account
which showed up with the correct reply address (@domain.co.uk).
Also I replied back to myself and that worked fine.
I just wanted to check that if I change the default recipient policy by
adding the new smtp address and setting it to primary it will not cause
any other problems. I'm particularly thinking about the fact that the
AD domain is still "thedomain.co.uk".
Thanks very much in advance for your help
Sincerely
James Broomfield
