Hi JP,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I know the issue to be: you want to know how you can
remove the com1 folder on recycler directory. If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
As I know, the RECYCLER folder contains the Recycle Bin for users. The
Recycle Bin name "S-18731-etc" is the SID of the user. By default, after
you remove the files or folders, the files and folders will be moved to
Recycle Bin so that you can restore them if you still need them. Please
make sure that you are the administrator of the computer and open each
Recycle Bin to check if the files are useless. If so, you may remove them.
(Note: if the computer is shared with other users, please check with the
other users to see if the files are unnecessary.)
According to my experience, let us try the following suggestions to see if
we can eliminate this problem:
Suggestion 1: Reset the Recycle Bin. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Close all the programs.
2. Click Start/Run, type CMD and click OK.
3. Type the following commands and press Enter after each line:
cd \
rd recycler /s
(Press Y to confirm.)
NOTE: If you have other drives in the system, continue to type the
following commands to delete the recycler folder on those drives.
d:
cd \
rd recycler /s
(Press Y to confirm.)
e:
cd \
rd recycler /s
(Press Y to confirm.)
HINT: The folder will be recreated automatically next time you delete a
file or folder.
Suggestion 2: Temporarily uninstall your anti-virus software.
If this problem still occurs after conducting the suggestions above, please
verify if this problem occurs in Safe Mode. If it does not, boot the
computer into the Clean Boot mode by disabling all the third party service
and startup programs to test again. To do so:
1. Click Start, click Run, and then in the Open box, type "MSCONFIG"
(without the quotation marks). Click OK.
2. In the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) window, click to select
the Selective Startup button.
3. Click to clear the check mark from the "Load startup items" below
Selective Startup.
4. Click the Services tab, click to check the "Hide All Microsoft Services"
box, and remove all the check marks from the remained Non-Microsoft
Services. Please note that the Exchange services could be marked as
non-Microsoft. Please do not disable those services.
5. Click OK to close the MSConfig window. Click Yes when you are asked to
restart your computer in order to enable the changes.
6. After restarting, please check whether this issue will reoccur.
If you have any concerns with the suggestions above, please do not hesitate
to let me know and I will be happy to help.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)
