Re: Allowing access to Internal Web Site with Win98 pc's

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

My personal opinion: yes and yes. But as of nright now, you can't completely
control what the remote user is using to connect up with, so it's important
you have the written policies in place: have a form they use to request
remote access, and in that form indicate that all data is owned by the
company, and they must abide by those rules; and that they agree that all
activity can/will be monitored, and that the computer(s) they use are
running an up to date A/V program.

Then, the best you can do is to make sure your server is always kept up to
datre with security patches, and virus updates.

Also, this is from the Securing your SBS 2003 document:

Upgrading Client Computers
If you have client computers running Windows 98 or earlier, or Windows NT
4.0 or earlier, consider upgrading these computers to either Windows XP
Professional or Windows 2000 Professional. Windows XP Professional and
Windows 2000 Professional are designed to work with the Windows Server 2003
network environment. This adds security while also improving reliability,
performance, and functionality for the local network. In addition, some
Windows Small Business Server 2003 applications, such as Outlook 2003, are
specifically designed to work with Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3
or later.
