Re: Corupt System event log

HI,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup. Glad to hear from you again.

Issue description:
================

I understand that you want to know how to clear the corrupt event log.

Analyzing and suggestions:
=================

Generally speaking, we can delete the old log files then restart the
services to let the system create the new log automatically. You can refer
to the suggestion below:

1. Run "services.msc" to open Service mmc.
2. Set the startup type to disable.
3. Restart the computer.
4. For backup purposes, rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the
following location:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config
5. Set the Eventlog service to the default of Automatic startup and restart
the computer again.

In additional, if you did not applied SBS 2003 SP1, please also refer to
the KB article below:

899416 You receive a "The event log file is corrupt" error on a computer
that

Thanks for your understanding on this issue. Please feel free to post back
the results. I am glad to be of further assistance.

Best regards,

| I do not know of a way to officially fix it, but here is an idea:
| Disable the event viewer service and reboot.
| Delete the .evt files
| Re-enable the service and restart.
|
| Might work.
