RAID 1 is Mirroring (Duplexing if on 2 separate controllers)
Hot swap is down to the Hardware you are looking at, Mainly a SCSI user for
servers and these Can be Hotswap if the Drive and controllers support it.
>From the drive sizes you are mentioning I suspect you are referring to IDE
type drives (SATA are also a newer form of the IDE Standard)
SCSI for that size would be incredibly expensive, BUT reliable and fast
sequential access.
Other than that your theory should work out fine
