Hi John,
Thanks for updates.
>From your description, the issue did not occur on Outlook software, so it
might relate to the third party software, as the issue seems to relate to
authentication methods, I suggest you contact with the third party software
for how to configure the authentication on the software for emails.
Addition information about outlook 2000:
195578 How to set up Internet mail accounts in Outlook 2000 Internet Mail
Only
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=195578
Please note that the SPA password issue should be related to your Exchange
configuration for POP3 server. You need to check it to make sure that the
configuration is correctly on your POP3 server on Exchange.
For the RPC and OWA issue, I am sorry for not describing the issue clearly,
you need to enable RPC and OWA by running CEICW wizard, you can refer to
the KB article below to run it, make sure that you choose access outlook
from internet and OWA is selected in the web service pages.

2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
In addition, please make sure that you have a FQDN name, if you want to
access it from internet; from your reply I find you have tried to access
the website via SBS server name from internet. It is not possible to do
that from a remote workstation directly. You need do it on an internal
client computer; you can rerun CEICW to make sure that your website is
published correctly. If you want to access it from remote workstation via
VPN server, you need to make sure that you have not set any restriction for
RWW websites.
Checking IP restriction for RWW website:
1. Open IIS node on server managements.
2. Right click the remote virtual directory on Default website. Choose
properties.
3. In the Directory security tab, please check the IP restriction tab, make
sure that you have no limitation for this VD.
4. Please also check your proxy setting on the remote client computer, try
to disable the proxy server to see if the issue still exists or not?
For accessing OWA, please use the following link:
https://FQDN name/exchange or https://SBS server public IP/exchange.
By default, the RWW and OWA will use https connections, so you did not to
worry about that. All can be done by running CEICW, please carefully go
through the wizard.
Thanks for your understanding on this issue. Please feel free to post back
your concerns. I am glad to help you.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)
