Hi Dave:
Thank you for posting here. Hello Russ, thanks a lot for the sharing.
Russ has provided the application called "QCheck", please take your time to
have a try.
Generally speaking, the speed will be somewhat slow over the VPN tunnel for
some cases. The following factors may cause this issue:
1. The network performance. Since VPN need to establish the connection
through Internet, if any points that the VPN connection goes through has
the low speed, the network performance will be low.
2. VPN connection takes the responsibility to encrypt the communication
data between the VPN clients and the VPN Server. This will also occupy some
performance.
Moreover, to obtain an ideal network performance, I would suggest the
remote users disable ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) on her VPN
connection (if she is using Windows XP) and also make sure antivirus
software is stopped when VPN to the server since some third-party software
will scan and filter the network traffic. To disable ICF, please see:
Please feel free to post back if you have further concerns.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)

| We have a customer that is complaining about the connections between two
| sites that are linked via DSL with an SBS 2K3 server in one location and
| another Win2K3 server at the remote site. They have hardware firewalls
with
| an IPSec tunnel between the two. They are trying to open files from the
| main office from pc's located in the remote. They eventually open but as
| with all customers they want it quicker.
|
| Does any one know of any application that we can use to find out the
upload
| and download between the two sites. We want to be able to run it over a
few
| days to see what results we get before putting forward any other options
to
| them.
|
| Thanks
| Dave
