Hi Matthew,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
Is "Disk Quota" enabled on the drive on which the share folder is stored?
In SBS 2003, quotas will be automatically configured on the volume where
the Users Shared Folders directory resides (which is C: by default). Quota
is configured as below:
1. Enable Quota management is checked.
2. Deny disk space to users exceeding quota limit is checked.
3. Limit disk space is set to 1 GB. Set warning level is set to 900 MB.
4. Log event when a user exceeds their quota limit is checked.
5. Log event when a user exceeds their warning level is checked.
6. Disk Quota is not configured for Administrators.
Therefore, when a user maps a drive to a share folder on the volume, the
capacity of the drive is the configured quota limit. To increase the
capacity of the mapped drive, you may want to set a larger quota limit for
users. To do so:
Right-click the hard drive where the shared folder is located and click
Properties. On the Quota tab, enter a larger quota limit in the text box
next to "Limit disk space to". Please note this quota limit is assigned to
new users. To modify the setting for an existing user, click Quota Entries.
Locate the entry for the user, right-click on it and click Properties.
Enter a value in the text box next to "Limit disk space to".
Another option is to disable quota management so that the user can use all
available space on the volume.

Also you will experience such issues when the shared folder is too big
since counting the folder size needs to enumerate all the files. If the
problem still persists at this time please help me by collecting the
following information for research:
1. Does this issue occur on all Windows XP clients? Does it occur on
Windows 2000 or earlier clients?
2. Does this issue only occur on one shared folder on the server? Do you
have other shared folders which have the same level of size?
3. Do you check the folder size when you browse to the server (\\server) or
do you map the shared folder to a network drive and then check the network
drive size?

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or if you need
further assistance.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

| I cross posted this because I don't know if the issue is the server or
| the XP client.
|
| My church has a 2003 Small Business Server I support. There is a
| shared drive set up that various clients map to. The server tells me
| that there are 30 GB of free space on the drice, but on one of the XP
| Pro clients that maps to the drive the properties on the drive show a
| 1 GB total size with 4KB free. If I disconnect and reconnect it still
| shows the incorrect info, but if I disconnect and connect to the d$
| share on the the system it shows the correct size and free space.
|
|
| Anyone know how to make the regular share show incorrect info?
|
| TIA
