RE: Error installing SBS SP1

HI Tim,

Thanks for your emails.

After checking the log you email to us, we confirm that Small Business
Server SP1 has been successfully installed on your system. The reason that
you received the error message is that the Outlook 2003 files are not in
your c:\clntapps\clntapps5\outlook2003 directory. The service packs
attempts to update these files and when it cannot find them it throws the
error that we are seeing. This is a benign error unless you want to deploy
Outlook to your clients. Based on our conversation all the clients already
have Office so you will not want to deploy stand-alone Outlook. If you
decide to deploy Outlook in the future you will need to re-run the SBS 2003
setup and choose to install Outlook as part of Client Apps.

Thanks again for your effort on this issue, please feel free to let me know
if you have any further concerns. I am glad to be of further assistance.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

| | Hi,
| |
| | I have just installed SBS on a new server and domain. Now I have
patched
| the
| | server like this.
| |
|
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/0/f/e0fee8ce-768d-41c0-8871-9bc48e0
| b3fc3/ToDownLoadFilesandReadInstructions.htm
| |
| | All went well until SBS SP1 returned with an error and message saying
| that
| | the error was described in this log file. The SBS SP1 patch said to
| correct
| | the error and re-run the SBS SP1 patch after this. BUT I do not see any
| | errors.
