Shared Audio and Video on SBS Network

Looking for experiences and thoughts on best practices for giving users
a common place to store and access media (audio (music) and video
(mostly self-made videos, could add instructional videos and dvds) on a
standard SBS network.
Four users so bandwidth (100MB Ethernet) hasn't been much of an issue;
the server is pretty solid as well and rarely taxed. I am imagining
the rather simple solution of having a shared media folder where people
can store music and video files. I have had some questions about that
though.
If we acquired a Windows Media Center Edition system (which I think
cannot be part of a domain) is there a way for it to access the files
on the SBS server without compromising security? Can the MCE store
items (such as TV shows, I don't really know as I haven't used MCE yet)
on the SBS server even though it is not in the domain?
Can other devices like the MP3/WMA receivers (I forget what they call
them, but I think Microsoft is pushing Windows Media Connect to connect
with them) access and play the files?
I assume I would have to make it so that users could not delete or
modify files on the shared drive. Any other policies that should be
implemented?
I would be interested in your thoughts and experiences on this subject,
which I haven't really seen much written on.
Thanks!
