Hi Niels,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
>From your description, I understand that you encountered the error "Win32:
The RPC server is unavailable" when you click Clients Computers on Server
Management and right click the detailed client computer and then select
Manage Computer and then remote manage the computer. If I have
misunderstood your concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Before we go any further, can I assume that the client computer is Windows
XP SP2?
In Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Firewall is enabled by default.
Incoming requests against unopened ports as opposed to responses to
requests originated from the computer are blocked by Windows Firewall. This
impacts the use of GPMC to retrieve RSoP data across the network.
For Disk Management to connect to a remote computer, that remote computer
must allow incoming network traffic on TCP port 445. However, the default
configuration of Windows Firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 blocks
incoming network traffic on TCP port 445.
You may need to edit the Small Business Server Windows Firewall GPO and
enable Windows Firewall: Allow Remote Administration Exceptions under
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Network
Connections | Domain Profile. This will open TCP ports 135 (RPC) and 445
(SMB) as well as additional dynamically-assigned ports in the range of 1024
to 1034.
And then run "gpupdate /force" on the clients and SBS to update the GPO.
The detailed steps are as following:
1. Start -> Administrative Tools -> Group Policy Management
2. Expand Domains -> Your Domain
3. Right click the Small Business Server Windows Firewall and click Edit
4. Expand Computer configuration>Administrative templates>Network>Network
connections> Windows Firewall> Domain Profile;
5. Double click "Windows Firewall: Allow Remote Administration Exception"
to enable it in right pane.
6. Run Gpupdate /force on clients and SBS.
7. Logoff and logon your client and test your issue again.

| Hello group
| I need some help.
|
| I have a problem with manage computer, from the SBS server Management
| Console.
| The problem is with client computers as well as member servers.
| Before the upgrade everything work, now I get Win32: The RPC Server is
| unavailable when I want to look at system properties, on clients or
member
| servers, and if I want to look at Disk Management on clients or member
| servers I get The RPC Server is unavailable.
|
| All clients and servers are created before the update, so I was wondering
if
| this might bee a policy thing.
|
| Kind regards
| Niels Koldborg
