Hi:
Thank you for posting here. Hello Kevin, thanks for your input.
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
>From the description, I understand that after you upgraded to SBS 2003 SP1
and ISA 2004, the internet access became slower than it used to be. If I
have misunderstood your concern, please do let me know.
Regarding the current status, I would like to provide you the following
suggestions:
Suggestion 1:
As Kevin mentioned, there are some known problems regarding the slow
network access. Please first configure the ISA Server to increase the value
of Connection limit time:
Open the ISA Server management console, navigate to Configuration->
General-> Define Connection Limits-> Connection Limit-> Limit the number of
connection-> Connection limit per client (TCP and non-TCP).
The default value is 40, 160 is recommended. After changing the limit time,
please click "Apply" to save the settings.
Can I assume you have run the CEICW Wizard after you upgraded to SBS SP1 &
ISA 2004? Open Server Management console, navigate to 'To Do List' and
click 'Connect to the internet' in the right panel. The wizard can help us
configure the networking settings for a SBS server. It's strongly
recommended to use the wizard to configure the SBS server. More info:

2003

Suggestion 2:
In addition, please temporarily disable the ISA cache and clear the cache
file (If any). (By default, the ISA caching is not enabled.)
To disable caching, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft ISA server, and then
click ISA Server Management.
2. In the ISA console, click to expand your server, click Configuration,
and then click Cache.
3. Under Cache Rules Tasks, click Disable Caching on the Tasks tab.
To clear the ISA Cache:
1. On the ISA Server computer, stop the Microsoft Firewall service. To do
so:
1). Click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open box, and then
click OK.
2). Right-click Microsoft Firewall, and then click Stop.
2. Start Windows Explorer.
3. Locate the Urlcache folder.
4. In the Urlcache folder, locate the file that has the .cdat file name
extension.
5. Right-click the .cdat file, and then click Delete.
6. When you are prompted to confirm the removal of the .cdat file, click
Yes.
If you are prompted to delete the .cdat file because it is too big for the
recycle bin, click Yes.
7. Restart the Microsoft Firewall service.

2004

Now, will you be able to access the internet from the internal client
normally?
Suggestion 3:
If the problem persists, I would suggest you perform a clean boot on the
client. A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or
programs that are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with
other device drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.
A. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks)
and click OK.
B. Select "Selective Startup" and remove the check box for "Load Startup
Items".
C. On the "Services" tab, click Enable All.
D. Check "Hide all Microsoft Services", click Disable All and clear "Hide
all Microsoft Services".
E. Click the OK button and then Click Yes to restart your computer.
Note: If you have any third party anti-virus software installed, please
also temporarily disable it.
In addition, have you configured the internal clients to be both Web Proxy
client and firewall client?
To be a Web Proxy client, the workstation uses the ISA server as a proxy.
To be a Firewall client, the workstation needs to have the ISA Firewall
Client software installed.
Hope the above information helps. Please feel free to let me know if there
is anything I can do for you.
Have a nice day! :)
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)

| Hi all, I recently upgraded to SBS SP1 & ISA 2004 from the CDs.
Everything
| went fine. But now web access is slower than what it used to be in ISA
2000.
| SSL websites especially are very slow. Certain websites dont load and
give
| page cannot be displayed. When I try to browse from the SBS Server itself
| things seem a little better. But from clients it is bad. Any ideas?

| Also, for some reason cacheing wont work in ISA 2004. I get the following

| The failure is due to error: A cluster resource failed.
