Hi:
Thank you for posting here.
>From the description, I understand that remote clients that connect to the
SBS Server via VPN cannot access other internal servers/clients, they can
only access the SBS server itself. The issue occurred after you applied the
SBS SP1. If I have misunderstood your concern, please do let me know.
Can I assume your network diagram looks like the following:
Remote client----Internet-----Router----SBS---Internal clients
Please kindly correct me if the diagram is not accurate.
Before we go any further, could you please help me gather the following
information? With detailed information, we will be able to narrow down this
issue.
1. First could you please let me know if you have run the CEICW after
installing the SP1? Open Server Management console, navigate to 'To Do
List' and click 'Connect to the internet' in the right panel. The wizard
can help us configure the networking settings for a SBS server. You can
refer to this step-by-step article to complete the wizard and then run the
"Remote Access Wizard":
825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
2. Once the VPN connection is established, please type "ipconfig/all >
d:\filename.txt" and "route print > d:\filename.txt" (without the quotation
mark) on both the SBS Server and the remote client, then send these four
files to my mailbox: v-edtian@xxxxxxxxxxxxx so that I will have a clear
understanding of your network diagram.
3. Does the problem occur on all the remote clients?
4. Once the VPN connection is established, can you ping the IP address of
the internal clients from the remote computer?
5. Do you have ISA Server installed? If so, which version is the ISA Server?
6. Have you installed any anti-virus software on the server/client? Please
temporarily disable them and see if the problem was caused by the third
party software.
In addition, I would like to provide you some preliminary suggestions:
1. Please follow this KB article to configure the VPN connection on the
remote client.
How to configure a VPN connection to your corporate network in Windows XP
Professional
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;305550
2. Please try not using the remote gateway on the client, to do so:
1). Double-click My Computer, and then click the Network and Dial-up
Connections link.
2). Right-click the VPN connection that you want to change, and then click
Properties.
3). Click the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the
'Components checked are used by this connection' list, and then click
Properties.
4). Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Use default gateway on
remote network check box.
Will you be able to access the internal clients this time?
Please understand that I could not provide you a solid solution in the
first reply due to lack of information. Thank you for your understanding on
it.
I look forward to your reply. Please feel free to let me know if you have
any questions or concerns.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)
