Hi,
Thank you for posting here! And also thanks for Kevin's great input!
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
As I understand you want to know how to configure SMTP Connector for your
ISP requires outgoing verification. If I am off base, please don't hesitate
to let me know.
You can follow below steps to configure SMTP Connector for outgoing
authentication:
1. Open up Server Management console, click on Advanced Management >
Exchange > Connectors
2. Right click on Small Business SMTP Connector, and click on Properties
3. Click to enable the option: 'Forward all mail through this connector to
the following smart hosts'
4. In the field below, you can enter either an IP address or your ISP's
outgoing SMPT server name
- If entering an IP address, you must include the square brackets. Example:
[12.33.44.1]
- An example of an ISP's SMTP name is Verizon's, which is:
outgoing.verizon.net
5. Next, click on the Advanced button, then click on Outbound Security
6. Click to enable basic authentication, then click Modify, and enter the
username and password you received from your ISP for sending mail through
them.
If it still does not work, you may need to configure your SMTP virtual
server with same settings.
1. Open Exchange System Manager.
2. Navigate to Servers\ServerName\Protocols\SMTP\Default SMTP virtual
server.
3. Right-click it and choose 'Properties'. In the Delivery tab, please
click Outbound Security button.
4. You need to enable "Basic Authentication" on the Virtual Server (instead
of the SMTP connector) in question. This requires usernames and password be
base64 encoded.
If you have any questions or concerns related to this issue, please let me
know.
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards,
Jenny Wu
