Re: Changing internet static IP

as long as the cert issued during CEICW is pointing to a name rather than an
IP.

If the cert was issued to an IP the CEICW should be run again and a new cert
created on the new IP.
If the cert was issued to a name then your FQDN DNS host just needs to
update the A record for the name.

There can also be changes required if you are doing certain things in ISA
and not using a router (ie. ISA direct to ISP, change ISP, get new IP, some
ISA rules need adjusting). This is probably my main motivation for using a
router between SBS (or any ISA) and the internet connection, a stable IP
interface on the external network. Here I am not using stable in reference
to stability of the ISP, I can change ISP, change connection type, have
redundant ISP's or connection methods through the use of failover capable
routers, no matter what I do the connection between the external ISA
interface and the ISP is alway the same IP config.

This is one of the major bonuses to a two nic SBS configuration - the IP
address on the wild side is of no concern to the SBS.

While it should be of no consequence to just change the IP, subnet mask
and gateway...could not hurt to run the CEICW again....you could run this
wizard daily and its no harm

Yes, a two NIC configuration with the 2nd one connected to the ADSL
modem with a static public IP address (that is changing).

I realize there is a wizard to change the SBS2003 servers local LAN
address
but what about if I need to change our Internet static IP.
All of the DNS naming and MX records will be the same, they will be
changed
to point to the new IP address by our ISP.

Do I simply re-run CEICW?
What about the SBS-generated certificates - will they become invalid
and
need to be regenerated?

Thanks.
