RE: Client Computers Disable themselves Mysteriously

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hello John,

Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup.

To narrow down this issue, please answer and perform the following
questions and steps:

1. Can I assume the issue is: when you open the Server Management console,
go to 'Client Computers', the client computers have red X icon on them, and
you cannot click 'Manage Computer' to remote manage those problematic
client computers. Please make a screen shot of this issue, and attach it in
your reply.

2. Does this issue occur with all client computers or certain client
computers?

3. Open the Server Management console, go to Licensing, in the right pane,
how many of the Installed licenses and Maximum usage?

4. Before the issue occurred, can you remember what changes you had been
made to those problematic client computers? Did you manually disjoin the
client computers from SBS domain?

5. Does this issue occur after you manually remove them and then recreate
them in SBS 2003 Server and run connectcomputer on the client again?

6. Please run 'eventvwr.exe' (without the quotation marks) on the command
prompt on the SBS 2003 Server, and check if there are any error messages
about this issue, then paste the full context in your reply.

I appreciate your time and cooperation. If anything is unclear, please feel
free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)
