RE: client can not access server resources through VPN

Hello Robert,

Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.

I understand that a remote client VPN to your SBS 2K3 domain, the client
cannot see the folder on the server. If I have misunderstood your concern,
please let me know.

1. What is your Network Topology?

{Remote client} {Internet} {Router} {ISA} {NIC1} {SBS} {NIC2} {Internal
client}

2. What is the ISA Server version, ISA 2K or ISA 2K4?

3. Please explain in detail "He can not see the folder that he is permitted
to use on the server", I need to know the exact place the customer tried to
access the folder on server

a. My Network Place. Or

b. \\servername\folder. Or

c. \\<SBS Server Internal IP address>\folder

4. Can this remote client access the other resource on the server?

5. Do other remote clients have the same issue, or this issue happens to
all remote client? I suggest that we try another workstation and see
whether this issue can be reproduced.

6. Please help to gather IP configuration on the remote problematic client
workstation and the server. Please follow the steps below to collect:

Firstly, please clear the "use default gateway on remote network" option.

1). Double-click My Computer, and then click the Network and Dial-up
Connections link.

2). Right-click the VPN connection that you want to change, and then click
Properties.

3). Click the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the
'Components checked are used by this connection' list, and then click
Properties.

4). Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Use default gateway on
remote network check box.

Secondly, on the remote problematic client workstation and the server,
after the VPN has being setup, open a command window, type "ipconfig /all",
copy and paste the full content to the Newsgroup.

Please take your time to perform the steps above and collect the
information for us to troubleshoot your issue. If anything is unclear,
please feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,

Brandy Nee
