Re: Migrating NT4 Exchange 5.5 to SBS 2003

HI Gregg,
Thanks for updates.
Just as I referred in my last post, the password is only for PST files, the
password you logon to the OWA can be only set in AD, it is depended on the
accounts you let the mailbox connected to.
For example, when you migrate to SBS 2003, first you will migrate the AD
accounts, after migration you can connect the any of the mailbox to that
accounts, but the password for that accounts can be only set on the AD in
SBS 2003. We can not set it on the wizard, the password is only for the PST
files.
Please also make sure that you have enabled OWA function for that users,
you can check the properties of the user in the exchange feature tab if the
OWA is enabled for that user, please also run CEICW to make sure that OWA
is configured correctly and you can use the new created user on SBS 2003 as
a test to see if you can logon OWA with that user.
Hope the above information help. Please feel free to post back.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Charles,
|
| I had already figured out the PST file password item, as noted in my
post.
| What I still do not understand is that when I migrated (not a PST, but
just
| the default migrate setting) the 5.5 mailbox to 2003 and let the
migration
| wizard create the AD account and mailbox, I was unable to log into the
| account or the mailbox via OWA.
|
| When migrating the mailbox from 5.5 to 2003, I had checked the box to use
| the logon name as the password, but the account would not let me in via
OWA.
| I also tried it with the migration wizard set to generate a random
password,
| but I do not know where the password gets stored so I know what it is.
|
| I wonder if the random password choice would work for the straight
migration
| to a mailbox. Where do I find the randomly-generated password (not the
one
| for the PST, just the one for the straight migration)?
|
| Thank you!
|
| Gregg Hill
