RE: Can't send out messages using OWA

HI Peter,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup.

Issue description:
==============

I understand that you could not send emails to your hotmail accounts, but
you can send emails from your hotmail accounts to your Exchange accounts.

Analyzing and suggestions:
================

Generally speaking, the emails will be sent to your Exchange 2003
successfully, it can prove that your MX records on your ISP works well, so
the issue should be related on your SBS side or your ISP side. In order to
make the issue more clear, please help gather more information:

1. Does the issue occurs, if you send emails to other internet email
address, please test it to paste the results.
2. Please contact your ISP to make sure that there is not black list on the
ISP side for hotmail address.
3. Please also check with hotmail to see if hotmail list your ISP or your
SBS domain as the blacklist.
4. You can enable message tracking on Exchange 2003 to check if the emails
is send to ISP or not, you can refer to following KB article for detailed
information:

Exchange
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=246856

5. Please also paste the detailed NDR messages to newsgroup, so that we can
have a more clear understanding for your issue.

| Hello.
|
| I am trying to use OWA to send out emails to my hotmail account.
However,
| Exchange 2003 server returns an error message to the effect that it
cannot
| contact the recipient (which is my hotmail account). However, from my
| hotmail account, I can successfully send emails to my Exchange server
account
| (i.e. ph@xxxxxxxxxxxx). Ports 25 on my firewall device is opened. I am
not
| using POP3 at the moment. My SBS 2003 server computer name is DC1. For
| simplicity sake, I have asked my ISP to create an MX public record called

| dc1.mydomain.com as opposed to mail.mydomain.com. Any help on this would
be
| greatly appreciated. Thanks.
