Just asking the question: how would the ISP know you were using a router?

I've heard this bunk for years...the charge for router usage is such
garbage. It's a sucker fee. If you have a NAT router between the modem and
the internal network, the ISP would only see one connection (the router).
The rest would be behind NAT and functionally invisible to the ISP.

You set the router, usually via a web form on an internal address (such as
192.168.1.1), with the exact same settings that you would use to set up your
PC to reach the 'net.

job of explaining how to set everything up.
