RE: Forcing Users to Logoff an

Hello Liam,

Thank you for posting.

>From your post, my understanding of this issue is: You would like to
enforce a logoff of the specific user in order to disconnect this user from
the DB server. If this is not correct, please feel free to let me know.

Based on my knowledge, we can use the "shutdown" command to remote shutdown
or restart a computer, but the shutdown command cannot remote log off a
user. Therefore, we may create a schedule task to run the shutdown command
to restart the remote client computer before running the backup. Please
refer to the following detailed steps:

1. On the server, create a .bat file which contains the following command:

Shutdown /r /f /m \\computername

Note:
- Where the computername is the name of the client workstation which you
would like to restart.
- The client workstation will be automatically restarted in 30 seconds
after running this command.

2. Create a schedule task to run this .bat file.

a. On the server, open Control Panel, open Scheduled Tasks.
b. Click Add Scheduled Task to add a scheduled task.

Note: Please ensure the Task Scheduler service is started.

Hope the above information is able to address your concern. Should you
have any question, please feel free to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Have a nice day!
