Hi Joe,
Thanks for your update! I am glad to know the MSDE migration issue is
getting fine now. I appreciate your time and effort to try my suggestions
and get this resolved.
Yes, as you done, we need register the instance in SQL Enterprise Manager
so that we can manage it in SQL Enterprise Manager. The detail steps:
A. Click Start, point to All Programs\Microsoft SQL Server, and then click
Client Network Utility. Make sure "Enable shared memory protocol" is
selected.
B. Open Enterprise Manager, right-click a server or a server group, and
then click New SQL Server Registration. Click Next.
NOTE: If you selected the From now on I want to perform this task without
using a wizard check box the last time you used the Register Server Wizard,
SQL Server Enterprise Manager displays the Registered SQL Server Properties
dialog box. Otherwise, the Register Server Wizard is started.
C. In the Server box, type the instance name, ie, <sbsserver>\SHAREPOINT,
and click Add and then Next.
D. Click "The Windows account information I use to log on to my computer
(Windows Authentication)", and then click Next.
E. In the Server Group list, click a server group and click Next.
NOTE: If the group you need does not exist yet, create it by clicking the
build (...) button, and then completing the Server Groups dialog box.
F. Click Finish, and then Close.
After we register the instance, we can see it at the left panel of SQL
Enterprise Manager immediately. If it doesn't appear, we can restart the
SQL Enterprise Manager to resolve it.
