Hello Russ,
Thank you for posting.
>From your post, my understanding of this issue is: Only "Service
Unavailable" in the daily email server report and it looks fine on the
server. If this is not correct, please feel free to let me know.
Based on my research, this issue may be caused by various factors,
therefore, we need to perform several tests to narrow down the root cause
of this issue.
1. Can you access http://companyweb on the server? If not, what's the
exact error message?
2. Open "services.msc", is the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING running?
3. In Server Management, expand Advanced Management | Internet Information
Services | your server, click Application Pools, on the right pane, check
if the DefaultAppPool is running.
4 Check if the following registry keys have permissions set for NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE:
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\InetInfo\Parameters
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W3SVC\Parameters
5. Please verify Local Service and Network Service has the correct
permissions:
a. Add Local Service and Network Service account Read & Execute, List
Folder Contents, and Read permissions to
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322.
b. Add Local Service and Network Service account Full Control permission to
%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files.
This will allow Backup and Monitoring folders under "Temporary ASP.NET
Files" folder to have full control for Local Service and Network Service.
If the issue persists, please help me to collect more information so that I
can perform further research. Please help me to collect the following
information and send them to me at v-stwang@xxxxxxxxxxxxx:
1. Please let me know the results of the above tests.
2. Have the CHKDSK run on the server before the issue occurs?
3. Compress the "%sbsprogramdir%\support" folder and send it to me.
4. Save System and Application Event Logs to .evt files and send them to me.
Thanks for your efforts and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Have a nice week!
Steven Wang (MSFT)
