RE: Activesync won't work Please help

Hello Christian,

Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup.

Before we go further, I found your reply in the post:

Subeject: web site: exchange-oma, Newsgroup:
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
It's now working. I followed the post below.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/community/newsgroups/dgbrowse
r/en-us/default.mspx?&query=activesync&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=mic
rosoft.public.windows.server.sbs&p=1&tid=9898ec7b-3551-4c56-86a1-d8e512bfa03

Can I assume that things are working correctly for you now? If not, please
refer to the following information:

Firstly, I suggest that we follow the steps below to configure ActiveSync:

1. Re-run the CEICW, ensure to check the OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) option
in the "Web Services Configuration" page, this will configure the System to
allow OMA and "Server ActiveSync" access from the Internet.

When running the CEICW, on the "Web Server Certificate" page select "Create
a new Web server certificate" and type your FQDN in the "Web server name"
box. Note that the FQDN must be the same name that you use to connect to
the Web site from the Internet. For example, if the URL that you use to
connect to OWA is https://mail.contoso.com/exchange, type
"mail.contoso.com" (without the quotation marks) in the "Web server name"
box.

2. The client computer should be configured using the SBS Set Up Computer
Wizard. During the Set Up Computer Wizard, the option to install ActiveSync
3.7 must be configured as well.

On the client computer, there will be an shortcut in the Start Menu called
Mobile Device Configuration. Launch Mobile Device Configuration and it
should be able to provision your phone or PPC (including installing the
certificate) so that the Server ActiveSync works.

3. As mentioned earlier, you should disable certificate verification if
it's a Pocket PC 2002 device.

If ActiveSync works, then please re-run the CEICW, on the "Web Server
Certificate" page, select "Use a Web server certificate from a trusted
authority" and click Browse to select your certificate.

On the client computer, go to "http://sbsserver/exchange";, double-click the
SSL icon in the right bottom corner in IE and make sure you are using the
correct certificate. Then run Mobile Device Configuration again, or you can
manually export the certificate and install it on the device. To do so:

1. Double-click the SSL icon in the right bottom corner in IE.

2. On the Details tab click Copy to File.

3. Click Next, select "DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER)" and click Next.

4. Follow the wizard to export the certificate to a file.

5. Copy the certificate file to your device.

6. Then click the certificate on your device, it will be automatically
added.

Then check if the problem still occurs.

I appreciate your time and cooperation. If anything is unclear, please feel
free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)
