Hello,
Thank you for posting.
>From your post, my understanding of this issue is: The options on Automatic
Updates control panel is grayed out, and you would like to know how to
disable the automatic updates. If this is not correct, please feel free to
let me know.
First, I appreciate Stokes kind inputs. This issue may occur if the group
policy setting is configured, so that please refer to the following steps
to check the group policy settings. First, we need to find out the group
policy setting is configured in which GPO:
1. Open Server Management, navigate to Advanced Management, Group Policy
Management, Forest.
2. Right click on Group Policy Results, and then click Group Policy Results
Wizard.
3. Select This Computer and Current user during the wizard.
4. On the right pane, click on the Settings tab, under Administrative
Templates, find the Configure Automatic Updates policy, and then see which
GPO is the Winning GPO of this policy.
5. If you cannot find the Winning GPO, please right click on the group
policy result on the left pane, and then click Save Report, and then send
the report file to me at v-stwang@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
And then please refer to the following steps to verify the policy in this
GPO
1. Open Server Management, navigate to Advanced Management, Group Policy
Management, Forest, Domains, Domain Name.
2. Right click on the GPO which is the Winning GPO and then click Edit.
3. Navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows
Components, Windows Update.
4. Check the "Configure Automatic Updates" setting.
5. If you would like to disable the Automatic Updates, you may configure
this policy setting to Not Configured, and then disable the Automatic
Updates in Control Panel, or you may directly configure this policy setting
to Disabled, this will disable the Automatic Updates, and it cannot be
enabled in Control Panel.
NOTE: If you configure this policy setting to Disabled, Automatic Updates
will be disabled on all client workstations on the domain.
Hope the above information helps. Should you have any question or concern,
please feel free to post back. I am glad to be of assistance.
Have a great week!
