Hello Kees,
Thank you for posting.
>From your post, my understanding of this issue is: The Companyweb was lost
and you would like to restore it. If this is not correct, please feel free
to let me know.
Based on my experience, I would suggest we use the IIS History Files feature
to restore the IIS metabase to see whether the issue can be resolved. IIS
automatically maintains a record of metabase changes in history files that
are saved to disk. You can also configure the number of metabase history
files to save. By using the metabase history feature, you can revert the
metabase through any number of changes to restore a particular
configuration, or to see what has changed between revisions.
You can use automatically generated history files to restore your IIS
configuration from IIS Manager. However, you may find it necessary to
restore the metabase without using IIS Manager. For example, suppose a
configuration change is made incorrectly, or if it is made using incorrect
XML syntax. In this case, IIS Manager would be unable to enumerate the
metabase.
Therefore, I suggest we use the second procedure "To manually restore the
metabase" in the following article to restore the metabase manually:
<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/cc0b0c9c-f078-4a58-8898-19c9d6aa8ee4.mspx>
If restoring metabase from the History Files failed or the issue still
exists, please refer to the following KB article to reinstall the WSS
