Hi Macker,
Thanks for your post.
Actually, all users belong to the default distribution group, which is
based on the company name. When users want to communicate with all
employees, they send an e-mail to this group.
The reason for putting the templates in the default distribution group is
to let the user accounts created by those templates can also be put into
this distribution group automatically. Since whatever groups the template
belongs to, so will the user account that is created using that template.
However, the templates are considered as disabled user accounts and no
email will be send to those templates. So, I would like to let you open
server management, expand User Templates and check if all the templates
have a red X on it.
Also, based on my test, the email sent to this distribution group will not
be sent to the user accounts that do not have mailboxes.
So, I would like to collect the following information to isolate the issue.
My email address is v-jerryz@xxxxxxxxxxxxx:
1. Please enable the SMTP log on the Exchange server.
a. Start Exchange System Manager.
b. Expand "Servers\<Your_ Server_Name>\Protocols\SMTP".
c. Right-click "SMTP Virtual Server", and then click "Properties".
d. On the "General" tab, click to select the "Enable Logging "check box.
e. In the "Active Log Format" list, click" W3C Extended Log File Format".
f. Click "Properties".
g. On the "General Properties" tab, click the Daily under "New log
schedule".
h. In the "Log file directory" box, type the path where you want to keep
the log files.
i. Click the "Advanced" tab, and then click to select all check boxes next
to each extended logging option in the "Extended logging options"
j. Click "Apply", and then click "OK" to close "Logging Properties".
k. Click "Apply", and then click "OK" to save your settings and close "SMTP
Virtual Server Properties".
l. Reproduce the problem, after the problem occurs, then send the log file
to me. Please let me know the problematic sender and recipient''s email
address.
The log files located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\SMTPSVC1.
2. Please enable the message tracing log either. To do so:
Open ESM, expand servers, right click on the server's name, and select
properties. Check on the option "enable message tracing".
Then reproduce the issue and send me the log file.
The log files located in C:\program files\Exchsrvr\domainname.log\
If you have any concern on this thread, I am glad to be of further
assistance. We look forward to hearing from you.
