RE: SBS 2003 Firewall Failure

Hi Daren:
I would like to provide some supplements.

If you want to use only one network card for your SBS Server, this is also
a workable configuration and you can refer to the KB article to re-run the
CEICW Wizard:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Since you only have one NIC on the SBS Server, you will receive a warning
indicating that "Only one network adapter is configured for use. As a
result, the firewall provided with Small Business Server cannot be
configured. Without a firewall, your network is vulnerable to unauthorized
Internet access. You should either ensure that you are using an external
firewall device or install a second network adapter.", and the component of
firewall configuration will be automatically skipped.

If you received any error information in the process of CEICW Wizard,
please send the CEICW log to my mailbox v-edtian@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further
analysis.

1. The icwlog.txt file in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Support" folder.

2. The icwdetails*.htm in the "C:\Program files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Networking\ICW\" folder.

Thank you. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or
concerns.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)

| Hi Daren:
| Thank you for posting here.
|
| As Cris mentioned, if we have only one NIC on the SBS Server, it has no
| need to run the Firewall Component. We will skip this step when running
the
| CEICW Wizard. If we have misunderstood your concern, please feel to let
me
| know and tell us the detailed information.
|
| Please enable another NIC and run the CEICW WIzard again, does this
problem
| reoccur?
|
| I appreciate your time and cooperation.
| Have a nice day! :)
