as Leythos indicates it depends on the hardware RAID controller.
eg. I know a Compaq controller (forget which model, it was some time ago)
that, if the existing array is 36GB HDD's and you replace one of the drives
with a 72GB drive the 72 gets formatted by the controller as a 36GB drive.
It is not possible to utilise the full 72GB without low level formatting the
drive.
In order to remain in a fully MS supportable condition I would probably add
the pair of larger drives as an additional array, software mirror the
existing partition(s) to the new array, pull the old disks, make sure she
boots, create an additional partition in the remaining space and move data
to it.
