Login - Using Tempoary Profile Problem

Hi,

We have a Windows 2003 SBS running AD and Licensing Server and a Windows 2003 machine running thin net clients.

The setup (which has never changed) has worked fine until recently, when users are now experiencing login problems..

During the login process they are prompted with the following error.

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile.
If this problem persists, contact your network administrator."

"DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Reviewing the event log, 4 errors are generated..............

Event ID 1508
Windows was unable to load the registry. This is often caused by insufficient memory or insufficient security rights.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. for C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\ntuser.dat

Event ID 1502
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Event ID 1515
Windows has backed up this user's profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backed up profile the next time this user logs on.

Event ID 1511
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.

Rebooting the Terminal Server cures the problem and users are then able to log in/out all day without the problem reoccuring, however the following morning produces the same problems..

I have check permissions etc and everything looks fine..ntuser.dat does not seem to be locked, however ntuser.dat.log (in the same directory) was locked...

Further Investigation reviles all the users who experience the login problem also have this file locked, while I can't be 100% sure, this problem seems to happen overnight....

There is no backup running and it doesn't seem to happen to all users..

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be apreciated

Thank you
