RE: File Sharing from Client to SBS2003 Problem

Just Call me Ed!! Don't have to be so formal!

1. Can you access these Shared/Files and Printers located on remote client
computer from the local client computer on SBS domain?

No, I can not.

2. Can you access these Shared/Files and Printers located on remote client
computer from the other remote client computer?

No, I can not.

3. If you disable firewall and Norton Security temporarily, does the issue
occur?

I can disable Norton Security, which I did. Still doesn't work. But, when
I try and disable Window's Firewall, it is grey'ed out and won't let me turn
it off.

4. From the client IPconfig result, can you try to delete the DNS 4.2.2.2
and try again?

I did this, still the same problem.

5. Make sure that you have selected Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP and the
Computer Browser service on the remote computer as following:

It wasn't enabled on the client computer, therefore I enabled it. Still
same results. It was already selected on the SBS2000.

6. Make sure the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service and the Server service and
the Workstation service are running on remote client. You may check them
through running Services.msc.

Yes, I verified this is running and setup to Automatically Start.

7. On the remote client, open the LAN connection properties and then make
sure that the Client for Microsoft Networks is selected.

Yes, it is.

8. Please disable ICF in your remote client. To do so:

I followed your instructions on this, and when I went to Advanced Tab,
it said "Window's Firewall" and had a "Settings" Click box. When I clicked
that, I went to the expections tab. I noticed that File and Printer Sharing
is disable, which is blocking ports 135-139 and 445. I was unable click the
button on this because it is grayed out and it says that it is a group
policy. (I am thinking this maybe the problem.)

One other thing. Don't know if it is realated or not. But, I had to remove
my logon script from my users because sometimes remote clients login's would
freeze. My network seems to be working fine without it. But, I thought I
heard something once that scripted used port 445.

9. Check if "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is installed
on the remote client:

Yes, it is installed.
