RE: SBS2003 Standard Server Cannot Access Webpages.

Hi Mike:
Thanks for your reply.
It appears that the router is the root cause, but it's weird that only the
web traffic initiated from the SBS Server is blocked by the router. I would
like to suggest checking the configuration on the router and open all the
outbound traffic.
Please understand that so far we have not any documents in regard to the
hardware router since we are lacking of the knowledge in that field. Thanks
for your understanding.
Have a nice day! :)
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)

| Edward,
|
| Thanks for the response, I have been through most of what you have
suggested.
| I will put the output of what I can further down the message.
|
| BUT! The interesting thing. I have taken other measures.
|
| In frustration I have moved the server to another location and
reconfigured
| the router settings to match those of the original location. Surprise,
| everything works.
|
| Here are the differences, the original router is a Linksys BEFSR81
| (Pre-version 3.0), the new router is a DLINK614+. I am thinking the path
of
| least resistance is to replace the router. None the less the techy in me
| would like to know why the difference.
|
| Here is the output of a healthy station that connects fine.
|
| Windows IP Configuration
| Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : family
| Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
| Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
| IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
| WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
|
| Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:

| Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
| Description . . . . . . . . . . . : D-Link Air DWL-520 Wireless
PCI
| Adapter(rev.E)
| Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-0F-3D-EA-A4-2F
| Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
| IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.125

| Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.1
| DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.0.100
|
| This out put does not reflect the fact that this machine is a part of the
| domain that the server owns. I have not rebooted since connecting to the
| domain.
|
| 1. ISA Not installed as this is Standard Server.
| 2. NSLOOKUP for Microsoft.com, 207.46.138.108 & 207.46.250.119
| 3. IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS = Complete
| 4. SEE OUTPUT ABOVE OF IPCONFIG of Client Computer
| 5. No Third Party AV Installed.
|
| I know that I completed half of the steps here however, my thoughts are
it
| is the way DNS queries are forwarded to the router. Does Microsoft have
any
| instances on record regarding this specific model of router? (Linksys
BEFSR81)
|
| Thanks,
| Mike
