Hi Skip,
Thanks for posting here!
I am Jenny, I am happy to work with you on the issue. For your description,
I understand that you can not receive any alerts from Companyweb. If I am
off base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
The performance alerts is different with the alerts send by Sharepoint and
you can configure respectively E-mail server settings. Please follow my
suggestions to troubleshooting the issue:
Point 1:
==================
Please ensure you configure correct E-mail server settings. Please check
below steps:
Note: To complete this procedure, you must be a member of the SharePoint
administrator site group.
1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click SharePoint
Central Administration.
2. Under Server Configuration, click Configure default e-mail server
settings.
3. Under Mail Settings, enter the following:
*Outbound SMTP server: The default should be the name of the computer
running SBS 2003.
*From e-mail address (Optional): The e-mail address from which all alert
notifications are sent. If this field is left blank, the From address will
also be blank in e-mail notifications sent to users.
*Reply-to e-mail address (Optional): The e-mail address to which users can
send replies. If this field is left blank, users will be unable to reply to
alert notices.
4. Character set Modify this field to correspond to your language or
default character set.
Click OK.
*Note: You can access the SharePoint Central Administration site at
http://servername:8081 to do these.
Point 2:
==================
If it sets correct. This problem may occur when the following conditions
are true:
* The Portal Site Name contains a comma or a semicolon.
* The Portal Site Name contains at least two blank spaces.
* The SharePoint site uses a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server to
send the e-mail notifications.
The SMTP server may interpret commas and semicolons as address delimiters.
Therefore, the SMTP server breaks the name of your SharePoint site into two
different, non-resolvable e-mail addresses.
Please refer to the following KB article for detail info:
You are not alerted by e-mail from a SharePoint Server 2003 site

Point 3:
==================
If the issue persists after you install the hotfix, I suggest you rerun
CEICW to configure mail server configuration.

2003

Point 4:
==================
Please try to use Message Tracking tool to find alerts mails and check
where its go.
Starts ->All Programs ->Microsoft Exchange ->Exchange System Manager - >
Exchange server name -> Tools ->Message Tracking center
You can refer to the following KB articles:
823864 Improved Message Tracking Features in Exchange Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=823864
Point 5:
==================
Please reproduce the issue and send me the SMTP log and also we may check
the Event logs if there is error event logged. To do that, please follow
these steps:
1) Select Administrative Tools and click Event Viewer.
2) In Event Viewer windows, click Application, select log files regarding
to it.
3)
If yes, please post the accurate error info in the newsgroup or to my
mailbox: v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Point 6:
==================
Did you check SMTP queue and did you find any alerts mail in the queue? You
can find it follow the steps:
Open Exchange System Manager, go to Servers\<ServerName>\Queues, do you see
many queues listed on the right pane? Double-click a queue which has many
e-mail messages and click Find Now, are the senders your local users? If
not you server should be open relaying Internet emails and the tons of
e-mail messages to cause the e-mails not to be sent in a timely fashion.
You should perform the steps in the following Microsoft KB article to solve
the issue:

Queues on SBS
