RE: Companyweb sts_config error with event id 1000 50070

Thanks again for your reply,
Unfortunately, a clean boot did not change my symptoms. Neither did
following the directions of KB 840685. I am still seeing multiple event ID
1000 entries (once every 5 seconds) and still can't access Companyweb
("Cannot connect to the configuration database.").
When I used msconfig to set everything back to Normal boot, I got an error
message that said I needed to be an administrator to make some of the
changes. It was not specific, and I actually WAS logged in as the
administrator. Exited without rebooting and reran msconfig, but couldn't see
any issues. Rebooted fine, as far as I can see.
I found a post that said the SQLAgent Sharepoint problem I described is
actually expected when running Sharepoint on MSDE. At least that's one thing
off my mind.
