Hi Imh,
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
>From the description, I understand you want to install office 2003 on SBS
2003. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please do not hesitate to let
me know.
As I know, you can install office 2003 on SBS. However, we do not recommend
installing a MAPI client on SBS server. please *DON'T* install Outlook 2003
on SBS 2003 box due to the presence of Exchange 2003. Outlook 2003 can
never be installed on an Exchange Server 2003 computer due to its
architecture. It will cause conflicts with Exchange 2003 as its components
are designed for client side and Exchange 2003 is using server side
components.
For detailed information, please refer to the following articles:
828050 You Receive a Warning Message or You Cannot Start Outlook on a
Computer
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828050
266418 Microsoft does not support installing Exchange Server components and
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=266418
Also, install Outlook 2003 on Exchange 2003 may cause some interactions
with some other Outlook based applications and other Exchange based
applications. These applications will access some Outlook and Exchange
components. If they fail, they may cause Outlook crash. If you want to
access email from SBS 2003, please use OWA.
I hope this information helps. If anything is unclear, please feel free to
let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)
