Re: Blackberry and MS Exchange Administrator

Hi,

Welcome to SBS newsgroup.

Issue description:
==============
>From the description, I understand that you want to install the Exchange
System Manager components onto a server other than the SBS box.

Analyzing and suggestions:
===============
Since the SBS server is an integrated solution, it's expected that you
cannot run the wizard in the SBS CD#2 to install the Exchange components.
This is because the Exchange components in SBS server are licensed by the
SBS CAL. It's not allowed to install the components to another server box
which is not a SBS server. The separate Exchange license is required for
the separate Exchange server in a SBS domain.

It's recommended to use a separate Exchange installation media to install
the system manager components onto a non-SBS server.

Based on my research you can refer to Jason' suggestions to perform the
installation by using the SBS installation CD. Please make sure that you
ONLY choose to install the Management tools during the installation. If you
improperly install the Exchange components, the licensing of the SBS server
may be corrupted. This is not a recommended resolution for a SBS
environment.

1. Go to the member server. Insert the SBS 2003 installation CD#2. Open
Windows Explorer, navigate to \EXCHSRVR65\setup\i386\

2. Double-click ''setup.exe'' in that folder. The Exchange installation
wizard will initialize. The wizard may ask you to input the CD key. Please
input the product key of the SBS server.

3. In the wizard, select ''Custom'' for ''Microsoft Exchange'' and select
''Install'' for ''Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools''.

4. Wait for several minutes. The wizard will install the files onto the
member server.

After doing the above steps, the Exchange System Manager will be installed
onto the member server.

I hope the above information helps. If you have any questions, please feel
free to let me know.

Best regards,

Charles Yang (MSFT)

| Sure, if you want to install Exchange System Manager, you can run the
setup
| from the SBS CD2 Exchsrvr65/setup/i386 folder.
|
| When the setup asks you what components you wish to install, choos Custom
at
| the Microsoft Exchange component, and then Install at Exchange System
| Management Tools. You should be good to go from there.
|
| When you run System Manager, you select the server you want to connect to
| and manage.
|
| Cheers,
