Dear Scott:
Thank you for posting here!
>From your description, I understand that one of your workstations has a low
internet connection speed after you reload the OS. If I have misunderstood,
please feel free to let me know.
In order to narrow down the issue, please help me collect the following
information:
1. Does this reloaded XP workstation work normally before?
2. Does this performance issue occur on all the internal workstations, or
just the particular one?
3. If the SBS server has two network adapters, please double check if the
problematic workstation has pointed the default gateway/DNS server to the
internal IP address of the SBS server.
If you have installed ISA server, please also make sure the workstation has
configured ISA as its proxy server.
4. Let's perform a Clean Boot on the problematic workstation. A Clean Boot
will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that are loading at
startup that may be causing a conflict with other device drivers or
programs that are installed in your computer.
A. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks)
and click OK.
B. Select "Selective Startup" and remove the check box for "Load Startup
Items".
C. On the "Services" tab, click Enable All.
D. Check "Hide all Microsoft Services", click Disable All and clear "Hide
all Microsoft Services".
E. Click the OK button and then Click Yes to restart your computer.
F. Try accessing the internet website, any luck?
5. Are there any corresponding event logs in the Event Viewer?
6. Please type ipconfig/all on the problematic computer and paste the
result to me in the reply.
7. Since the low performance of internet connection can be caused by
worms/virus, we need also make sure if the problematic computer is
corrupted. If possible, please implement a clean installation of OS for the
workstation.
I appreciate your time and cooperation. Please feel free to let me know if
you have any questions or concerns.
Have a nice day! :)
Best Regards
Edward Tian(MSFT)
