If you've messed around with SBS, and it isn't a DC, then all bets are off.
Set up SBS as its designed to be set up. If you need to replace an existing
domain controller, then hold of installing exchange until it's a domain
controller.
I'm 99% sure you'll need to start over from scratch and do it properly.
