Re: CA antivirus software will not update after installining ISA 2004

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Did CA work before the ISA 2004 and then stop working when you upgraded ISA,
or is this a whole new install where it's never worked?

- On the SBS in eTrust, click Scanner -> Signature Update Options ->
Incoming. Select the ftp server listing and click Edit. Under Proxy
Server, list your SBS in the format "servername:8080" without the quotes.
(FWIW I have the passive update box unchecked. Not sure if checking that
would matter to ISA 2004 or not). Try updating again.

- If it doesn't work, click View -> Log Viewer -> Distribution Events to
make sure a blocked connection is the cause of your issue. You won't want
to start making changes in ISA only to find out CA's server is down, which
is not unheard of.

- If eTrust will still not update, you might have to tinker with the FTP
settings in ISA. I believe it's only FTP uploading that's blocked by
default, which shouldn't matter to eTrust. See
http://msmvps.com/kwsupport/archive/2005/06/02/50299.aspx

- You can download the signature files directly from the CA web site to a
workstation, then copy them over to the server and apply updates manually.
If you're wrestling with this for any period of time, I'd do that rather
than get too far out on signature updates.
