RE: SBS2003 - Exchange online; file synch offline

Hi Ray,

Thank you for your kind reply.

I know the current condition is: you received the error message "need to
reinstall the Client Deployment component on the Server", when you re-join
the problematic workstation into the SBS Domain.

Consider your current concern, you can temporarily manually join the
problematic workstation into the SBS Domain. To do so, please perform the
below steps:

1. Please run the "Ipconfig /all" on the command prompt, and verify the
configuration of the TCP/IP on the problematic workstation. Enable
automatically obtain an IP address from the DHCP on the SBS Server, and the
SBS internal NIC's IP address is the only entry on the DNS Server box of
the problematic workstation.

2. Go to the desktop, right-click My Computer icon and select Properties,
click Computer Name tab, click Change button.

3. Type the appropriate Computer name, and type the correct Domain name
in the Domain box, then click OK.

4. Type the administrator credential in the dialog box.

5. Restart the computer.

For the offline files sync, you may refer to the below KB article:

230738 How to Restart the Offline Files Cache/Database
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=230738

In addition, please try the following steps to reinstall SBS components:

a. Make a complete backup of your server

b. Rename HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer

c. Rename %Program Files%\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business
Server 2003

d. Rename %Program Files%\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server

e. Verify %Program Files%\Windows for Small Business Server exists on the
server. If not, you may want to manually rebuild the files from
CD1\Setup\i386)

f. Rerun SBS setup to reinstall SBS components.

Additionally, to troubleshoot the join domain issue, please help me collect
the below information:

1. Please kindly paste the exact error message in your reply, you may do
a screen capture of this issue and attach it in your reply.

2. On a workstation, go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Clients and paste the content of the SBSNetSetup.log file
in your reply.

3. On the SBS Server, please locate the Errorlog.txt from the ..\Program
Files\Microsoft Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs folder,
and check whether there are any error messages noted on this issue, then
paste the full context in your reply.

I am appreciated your time and cooperation. If anything is unclear, please
feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Nathan Liu (MSFT)
