HI David,
Welcome to SBS newsgroup. Eric thanks a lot for your updates.
Issue description:
============
I understand that you encountered some problem after running
connectcomputer wizard.
Analyzing and suggestions:
============
Generally speaking, this problem might be permission issue, we can
troubleshoot with this issue, however as I know rejoin the client computer
to the domain might be the most quickly and effective ways for this issue,
for your convenience, I would like to give you the detailed steps to do
that make sure that you have follow the example to do join the domain:
Before we check with the issue, please first make sure that you have add no
special setting on the logon script.bat, you can check this batch files at
the following location:
\\netlogon at the SBS server
1. Quit the XP computer from the domain and join in a workgroup. Check if
you can logon correctly. If you can logon correctly, proceed with the
following steps.
2. On the SBS 2003 server, open Server Managment Console and delete the old
user and the computer object.
3. On the Server Managment console, go to Users and click "Add a User".
Create a user account for this XP computer and specify the computer name
associated with the user.
4. On the XP computer, type http://SBS_Server_Name/connectcomputer.
5. Type the user account and you can choose to migrate the user profile
from the local user account to the new domain account.
6. After the wizard finishes, check the new domain user account and log on
correctly.
If the issue still occurs or you can run the connectcomputer wizard, please
post the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Clients
folder\SBSNetSetup.log file from the XP computer so that I can do some
analysis of the connectcomputer process.
If the logon still hangs, please open the user's properties page on the SBS
server, click the Profile tab and remove "SBS_LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat" from "Logon
script" and check if the issue disappears.
I appreciate your understanding on this issue, if you have any further
concerns, please feel free to let me know. I will be here waiting for your
updates.
Best regards,
Charles Yang (MSFT)

| You could login the client computer with the local administrative
| account and erase all the profiles (or rename their directories) on the
| computer (except for the administrators of course)--then next time you
| login into the the client computer using a domain account, it will
| recreate a profile from scratch possibly avoiding this error message.
|
| Possible reasons for your problem now could be related to user
| privelages. It's not a big deal to start the Client Connect Wizard
| process from scratch.
