RE: ISA 04 Firewall Client Install

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Dear Bernie:
Thank you for posting here.

I truly understand your concern. But generally speaking, we should
uninstall ISA2000 firewall client first and then deploy the ISA2k4 version.

To remove the ISA2000 firewall client, generally we would run "Add/Remove
Programs" from Control Panel, select "Microsoft Firewall Client" and then
click "Remove" to remove it.

Then we can deploy the ISA2k4 firewall clients using the automatic client
application deployment feature of SBS, or manually install the firewall
client from the server sharing: \\ServerName\mspclnt\

For your information:

Technically, ISA 2000 firewall client can also be used to work with ISA
2004. The key point is to select the option to allow ISA 2000 firewall
client to connect when you install ISA 2004. This is by default disabled
and you need to enable it.

If ISA 2004 has been installed, open ISA console, click
"Configuration"->"General"->"Define Firewall Client Settings" and you can
check "Allow non-encrypted Firewall client connections" to allow the
connection from ISA 2000 firewall clients.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hope the above information helps. Please feel free to let me know if you
have any questions or concerns.

Have a nice day! :)

Best Regards

| I upgraded to ISA 04 and now need to deplay the 04 Firewall Client. All
the
| workstations have the 00 firewall client. I tried using System Manger to
| deploy the 04 client, but it does not seem to remove the 00 client. Both
| clients end up running on the same machine. I must be missing a step
here.
| What is the best practice to get all the Firewall Clients upgraded to ISA
| 04?
|
| Thanks,
| Bernie
